Arcsin(x)/arccos(x) does not equal arctan(x).. why?

because the only relation we know is sin(x)/cos(x)=tan(x) but we dont know the behavior of the inverses of these functions. to prove it's wrong just find a counterexample, like x=23 and use your calculator.
